Chief Technology Officer

Bespoke is a global leader in providing AI-powered chatbots that help companies provide their customers with an engaging and improved customer experience when searching for help or trying to perform routine tasks.

 Bespoke’s technology relies on advanced AI technology to understand the intent behind a customer’s question and match it to an approved, curated answer. Since answers are curated, Bespoke has a team of chat support specialists that can intervene in a conversation and work to continuously improve the Bot’s knowledge on behalf of the customer.

Our CEO is an advisor to the prime minister's office on the digitization of Japan and our company is a very unique startup to have a place at the table at important government meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead Bespoke’s technology vision. Using input from product management and customers, create a vision that resonates with customers and guide your team to deliver on it.
  • Develop your high performing team of AI/ML engineers, software engineers, QA, analytics, and infrastructure professionals.
  • Clearly communicate Bespoke’s AI/ML advantages and future plans to customers and investors.
  • Continually improve development processes and release velocity.
  • Define and track department and product quality metrics
  • Own Bespoke’s product quality and functionality; serve as a trusted advisor to customers who have detailed technical questions about the product’s future releases or their chatbot’s implementation.
  • Maintain high quality documentation on the team’s processes and product knowledge.
  • Propose and participate in thought leadership events that position Bespoke as a leader in their customer segments.
  • Scale your workload, define team roles, and manage people as the product grows.
  • Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience working as a software engineer or manager at a high-growth SaaS software company.
  • 5+ years software development management experience at a high-growth software company.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team to create and release new revenue-generating features or products.
  • Demonstrated experience growing a team 2x+ while improving velocity and quality metrics.
  • Previous experience leading a team to deploy software to cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience as a trusted advisor to customers and non-technical leaders. Prior experience as a technical functional leader directly accountable to customers and traditionally non-technical leaders (e.g. CEO, COO, MD, GM).
  • A basic understanding of AI/ML algorithms and able to communicate the product’s strengths and challenges to customers and internal leaders. Demonstrated experience navigating customers through difficult technical limitations towards successful solutions.
  • Self-motivated and willing to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience bringing a startup’s product to market.
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working with investors or due diligence teams during funding rounds or acquisition.
  • Experience working with public sector customers.
  • Business-level spoken Japanese.
  • Other Qualifications
  • Native-level fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with people from many different backgrounds
  • Excellent management skills; excels without direct supervision and ambiguous priorities.
  • Flexible with working hours
  • Legally able to be employed in Japan
